Abstract

This study aims to test the hypothesis that implementing the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model can improve the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in short-distance running at SDN 03 Tetebatu through integrated strengthening of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. A two-cycle Classroom Action Research (CAR) design was implemented, each encompassing planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Each cycle was implemented in two meetings with modified game activities designed to stimulate understanding of sprint tactics and the application of basic techniques (start-run-finish). The results showed that the average integrated score (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) increased from 67 in Cycle I to 80 in Cycle II. In contrast, the percentage of participant completion (KKM ≥ 70) increased from 56% to 95%. This increase confirms that integrating tactic-based game activities and reflective feedback accelerates the internalization of running strategies and motivates active student participation. The psychomotor aspect experienced the most significant progress, but the cognitive and affective elements showed substantial improvements after sharpening the reflection and discussion phases.
